A Disappointing Lunch at Xibu Mahua

Alijiang Chicken Skewers

We went to Xibu Mahua for lunch today, and what a letdown it was. I was really looking forward to their bailingu mianpian, a stir fried plate of sliced dough and mushrooms, figuring that it would be wonderfully aromatic and savory. Instead, it was done like sweet and sour pork, featuring crude cuts of capsicum and onion...yuck!

Those same cuts of capsicum showed up in the chuanr above, the meat of which was lacking fat and cumin, unlike those wonderfully moist and tasty things at the now-defunct Alati (sniff, sniff). Lastly, the spicy version of the roujiamo here wasn't spicy at all; I had to keep adding chili oil on my own. I should've just stuck to their beef noodles.

Alati has been resurrected. Bought lamb skewers from it this afternoon.

Whoa, that's awesome. Thanks for the heads-up!
