Gochi-So Shokudo's "Battle Between Kurobuta vs Iberico"

Kurobuta vs Iberico Pork Steak Don

I was always put off by how commercialized this chain looked, but they are running a promotion now featuring a shootout between Iberian pork and kurobuta in the same bowl (that white glob in front is an egg, in case you're wondering). Well, the Iberian meat on the left was much more tender, moist, and tasty. The kurobuta wasn’t tough nor dry, and was definitely good in its own right, but comparatively speaking was leaner and firmer.

I can’t help but wonder though if there was an ulterior motive at play, seeing that the normal menu here uses Iberian pork. My wild guess is that their customers kept asking why a Japanese-styled place wasn't using Japanese pork, so this promo helped put that to rest. I'm not sure if they were using comparable grades of meat and even the same cuts, but the promo worked nonetheless since I'm more open to eating here again after having tried this.
