It's funny; it's only after having gotten so excited about this dish this morning that I realized that this local take on ful medames is actually from Johor. I didn't even have this on the radar screen when I was up there earlier this week. That's quite a disappointing oversight on my behalf.
Anyway, this stall in Singapore was so good that I went back for seconds (4A Eunos Crescent #01-03). It was awesome because of not just the savory and textured mash, but also the garnishes really brought it together with the chopped onion and chili peppers, not to mention that sprinkle of salt on top of the lime together with the bread. I guess this stall does it much better than the one that I tried many years ago.
I'm definitely going back, and would rather get this than that Chaoyang fishball noodle shop. Next time I need to remember to order two plates given the tiny portions, and also make sure to bring small notes given that they couldn't break the fifty that I had tucked away for rare cash-only situations like this.
