Pho Kitchen at Almaden Ranch in San Jose

#28 Phở Tái Chín

I don't know if I just never noticed before, but it seems like more Bay Area pho shops are using "24 hour beef broth" as a selling point. This new shop certainly does, and it made for a convenient destination tonight (5130 Cherry Avenue Suite 10, 408-613-2973).

After taking a sip though, I wouldn't have known that the broth had been simmered from bones for so long, as it was pretty salty without much depth. The meat was rather dry too, and the selection of cuts was surprisingly limited. I didn't bother to finish my bowl.

Worse, they hit a pet peeve of mine with all of their single-use plastics despite the fact that we were dining in. Well, there was a nice grilled meat smell coming out of the kitchen at least. But I'd rather just go to Pho Almaden across the street.
