She Wong Hei in Hong Kong's Causeway Bay

Popular Snake Soup Set

This Michelin-listed place (59 Percival Street, 2385-5211) came up in conversation last night because of that snake soup above. And it was conveniently near my hotel so I hopped down there for lunch today before heading to my next meeting.

It turned out to be like a Chinese hot and sour soup with its assortment of thinly sliced proteins and veggies in a thick but mild-tasting soup. I wouldn't even have known that there was snake meat in there had no one told me. The most pronounced taste in that bowl just came from those citrusy green herbs on top.

That lunch set above incidentally included those dark liver sausages on the left. They were piping hot and crispy on the outside but with a creamy funkiness of liver on the inside. I don't need to get it again, but I'm curious about the other things on the menu like the roast goose and pork lung soup.
