A
suancaiyu chain from Shanghai has opened an outlet in Singapore (1 Sengkang Square #02-31, 8028-0308). This shop was focused on "
grilled fish and
fragrant spicy crab," but I skipped past those to get their
suancaiyu, the broth of which was a satisfying balance of spices, acid, oil, and salt. It's too bad then that the fish itself tasted rather muddy, and other menu items like the
chuanr couldn't compare to places like the
now-defunct Alati. I'm curious to see how the other items on their menu fare though.
Correction: it turns out that this is *not* the Tai Er chain from China, but a lookalike that has since renamed itself to Fu Qi, presumably due to the real Tai Er opening at Jewel Changi Airport.
