When I first walked by this chicken wing stall at Whampoa Makan Place (90 Whampoa Drive #01-83), I had to do a double take. Wait, was that a bright red crab that I saw on the grill next to those chicken wings? It was! Sweet! There was a tank of live crabs right there, and he would throw them on the fire, making them ready for you in 15 minutes. I was sold.
And yes, it was good. It wasn't seasoned in advance like at SHAO, but the meat was naturally sweet and firm, while that sour chili dip was a nice complement to it all, especially after scooping out some of that rich dark tomalley inside. The chicken wings were good too, but I'd rather go to R&B for those. Here, the thing to get was the crab.
