Niu Mangmang Hotpot in Chengdu, China

Hotpot

There is no way that one can leave Chengdu without eating hot pot. So we made sure to find one tonight before heading to the airport, and an outlet of this small chain was conveniently there. They only had two types of broth available, but also had a number of things that I hadn't seen before, like those tender little cubes of meat on a skewer, as well as that cooked meat served cold with chili powder (he told me it was a local Chengdu appetizer). We got those along with the usual requisite items like sliced lamb and fatty beef, all of which went down nicely with that spicy broth whose heat seemed to creep up on you as the minutes go by. Yep, they had those little pull-tab tins of oil too.
