When I saw the sign for this dish at
Menya Sakura the other day, I had to do a double take.
Uni tsukemen?? Weird; why ruin the delicate taste of
uni with a salty greasy
tsukemen broth? Well, I finally tried it today, and it worked. The broth itself was savory, which provided some wonderful contrast with the rich
uni that I used as a chaser after each bite. I'm not sure if that's how this was supposed to be eaten (hopefully they weren't telling people to mix in the
sea urchin), but this was the best way that I could figure out on how to make the most of it.
