Smoking Pig BBQ Company in San Jose
With the exception of Jon-Jon's, BBQ usually isn't something that comes to mind when I'm back in San Jose. But this place (1144 North 4th Street, 408-380-4784) came in as a recommendation a few months ago, and fortunately downtown San Jose now has a cool bike sharing program where I could grab a bike from a kiosk right across the street from my hotel and head up there for lunch, which is exactly what I did today.
And yes, I liked my combo of ribs and burnt ends. The Kansas City hot sauce in particular was awesome, as were those collard greens. Now, some parts of the meat were a tad on the dry side, so my preference is still to just wait for my next run to Austin. But if that's not a choice, then I'd consider coming here again. Indeed, they also had a fried catfish that might be worth trying.

Yay! I'm so glad you liked it :D
Since I'm currently eating this dish, please try going to Dish and Dash in Sunnyvale on Mathilda. Get the Chicken Shwarma California Style with either rice or Freekeh. It goes really well with their mint walnut and tahini sauces. It's one of my favorite things to eat when I'm at work.
