Baden-Baden Restaurant & Pub

Pork Knuckles

Yes, this pretty much tasted as good as it looked. The thought of some crispy fat-lined German pork knuckles sounded quite appealing to a beer-filled belly this afternoon, so we hopped on over to Baden-Baden (42 Lorong Mambong, 6463-8127) and ordered away. Everything about this was great: the skin was crispy and complete with tasty fat underneath, the meat was tender and crumbled away off the bone, and the thing came out almost in the blink of an eye, all while scorching hot too. This was much easier to eat than that one I had in Berlin, of all places.

Too bad they ran out of pretzels today though. And interestingly, the potato salad here lacked the bacon and mildly sour characteristics attributable to German potato salad. I liked how it was a bit creamy, but it just didn't seem very German...it was more like "normal" potato salad, for lack of a better word.

You have to try the pork knuckles Restaurant Stammtischt, 6th avenue. They do really good schnitzels too.

I tried both the pork knuckles at both Baden Baden and Stammtischt. Hungryboy is right, Baden Baden pork knuckles are crispy on the outside, yet juicy and tender on the inside. As for Stammtischt, I find theirs somewhat dry. To top it off, Baden Baden serves Erdinger on tap!

I'm, German but I eat no pork. And for me pork knuckles are something for American and Japanese tourists coming to the Bavarian Oktoberfest and for some old German mens with a "round" belly.
We eat only sometimes out. Normally I cook at home and if you ever want to try a really tasty Kartoffelsalat you should try my recipe even if this seems to be not the authentic one for you.

I don't know where you are from, but I'm from Bavaria, don't have a belly, but still love my Schweinshaxe about once a month. Yes there are may tourists on the Oktoberfest, but we still love to eat out food, which has lots of pork in it.

I heard Baden and Baden-Baden is essentially the same place. The address remains the same too. They are right between Siem Reap and Tapas Wine Bistro. And Erdinger there is really cheap, just like buying off the shelves of a supermarket! Prost!

Baden's Erdinger tastes somewhat better than anywhere else. I heard from the bartender there that the difference is in the way they store their beers and how they tap it fresh. Anyone care to verify?
