Chef Choi Hyun-Seok at Singapore's Bulgogi Syo

Fresh Omugi Beef Yukhoe Sotbap

I've been pulled in again by a restaurant doing a Culinary Class Wars promotion. This time, it's the local chain Bulgogi Syo, which I only now realize is from the Seorae dude, and thus the campaign makes more sense. In this case, the creations were from the older gentleman who didn't advance to the finals when he forgot to put garlic in his vongole pasta. The menu playfully included a vongole noodle dish, but it was only available to "members," so I went for this yukhoe sotbap instead.

Had no one told me that this was his dish, then I never would've known. I mean, it was edible enough for me to finish, but there was nothing exciting about it, and the pot wasn't even hot enough to scorch the rice at the bottom despite me waiting forever for them to bring out the food on an empty afternoon. One would think that such a commercialized chain with all of its big signage, blowtorch theatrics, and array of sauces at each table would have more optimized operations.
