
If that looks weird above, it's because it was a giant youtiao that was being cut up and put into a clay pot with braised fish. It's from a celebrity chef's chain serving Chaoshan food (there seem to be a lot of these around here; I spotted a few more in the same area). Interestingly, my teammate from Shantou says that this isn't very authentic. But they did do some truly Chaoshan things like a savory oyster omelette and some fishmeat-based noodles. The food sufficed for what we needed, including his oven roasted chicken. But it wasn't particularly mind blowing, and the service here needed some work.
