Another hot pot chain from China has opened down here (30 Victoria Street #B1-01). The transliterated Dolar Shop name is unfortunate though, as it clearly is not the budget variety store that many might think of. Maybe that's why some of their signage referred to them as Broth & Beyond, but it's still confusing.
Anyway, the food was fine, and arguably not that different from competing shops aside from the big "Market Table" spread featuring not just the usual dipping sauce condiments and fruits, but also an "animal jelly" dessert station. They used individual pots, and the broth and ingredients were fine.
They are currently doing a lunch set right now that is a pretty good deal, as S$19.90 (US$14.90) gets you not just a broth, protein, and veggie platter, but also access to that aforementioned spread without additional charges. It's surely much more affordable than the a la carte menu for dinner.
