London’s Murger Han Has Opened in Singapore

Set A

A small chain from London has opened an outlet in Singapore, serving Xian food of all things (61 Robinson Road #01-02, 6970-0286). Yes, that weird "murger" name is an anglicized roujiamo, perhaps not unlike what Xishaoye tried to do with "Bingz." They offered a choice of a flaky bun as well as an unattractively dense-looking one. I chose the former.

The good thing was that the flaky crust was good and crispy. But the pork in mine was meaty and lean, in a not so good way. It was better after I squeezed some red chili oil on it, but I had to keep walking back up to the condiment counter to get some. I still think Wumingyuan's is one of the better ones.

Perhaps what was more interesting was the liangpi, which didn't seem to be available a la carte. More notably, they didn't use the typically flat wide noodles, but rather noodles that were irregularly cut into square-ish kind of shapes. It was chewy and seasoned with a good amount of chili oil, and those gigantic chopsticks were rather comical. I'll try their other items next time.
