Shoten Yakitori Ikki in Tokyo's Nerima City
This was a little sliver of a yakitori place next to Toshimaen Station that has a grill setup in the alleyway for reheating your selection pre-grilled skewers behind clear plastic cases (4 Chome−15−15, 03-3557-6701). It's kind of a grassroots Tori-Q, if you will, that shoved your skewers into little paper bags. The quality was certainly much better, with tender and fatty cuts of bonjiri available, not to mention some thick cuts of skin too. But the negima was rather dry, while some of the pieces weren't heated all the way through in this cold weather. I wasn't complaining though, as it was fun, smoky, and convenient. And I liked how they weren't shy with the salt here either.
