Okinawa's Yappari Steak Has Opened in Singapore
This steak chain from Japan has opened an outlet at VivoCity (1 HarbourFront Walk #02-110, 6970-1686). It's definitely downscale: think of places like Yakiniku Like, especially given the huge array of sauce bottles on each table. Your choice of meat is served on a hot plate so that you can cook it to your liking and eat it with unlimited refills of soup, salad, and rice. But there really wasn't anything that special about the food. In the end, it was just an everyday steak, and wasn't anything that I'd go out of my way for.
Epilogue: I went back later and was much happier with their hanbaagu, which was not only more tender and fatty, but also cheaper than that lean namesake cut above. Plus, the hot plate helped to give it a nice and crispy crust, even if it also meant quite a bit of splatter. Next time I should take them up on their offer for an apron.
