The parent company behind Tai Er has another brand that focuses on Chinese grilled fish at Suntec City (3 Temasek Boulevard #B1-111). Operationally speaking, it bore a huge resemblance to Tai Er, including not just its lack of single servings, but also a Roselle tea station as well as loudly scripted announcements.
Their signature dish above featured a catfish from China, which had a muddy freshwater taste to it but also a crispy and fatty skin that was smoky and aromatic. That was the best thing about this dish rather than those green chili peppers on top, which weren’t spicy at all. For that price, I’d rather go to Tai Er.
