Wuhan’s Cai Lin Ji Has Opened in Singapore
I haven't had reganmian very often, but it seems that Cai Lin Ji is the quintessential vendor for it in China, and fortunately they just opened an outlet down at Jurong Point (1 Jurong West Central 2 #03-56). The most striking thing across those dishes above was that they were not how they appeared. The noodles looked like any other bowl, perhaps with some dark soy sauce to season it, but it turned out that the dark color of the sauce was sesame paste instead, making it deliciously aromatic. The yellow square on the left looked like carrot cake or even prata, but it was filled with sticky rice and small cuts of meat spiked with earthy anise. That bowl on the right looked like egg drop soup, but it was actually a sweet rice wine with lots of sugar at the bottom. Yes, I was happy eating all of that.
