Jecheolso in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul

Yukhoe

This place on the second floor of the Seoul Ungchan Building is kinda neat (17-31 Cheongdam-dong). It is ostensibly a modern bar with steel counters. But the food that they serve features traditional Korean elements, presumably meant to invoke a sense of nostalgia. That included things like scorched rice crackers, dotorimuk acorn jelly, and vinegared squid. I didn't completely understand all of it myself, but it reminded me of places like Orh Gao Taproom or 1925 Brewing Company, highlighting local food in a playful manner, all while being washed down by a selection of booze, like the rather thick and potent makgeolli that we had.

Oh man. I used to read your blog around 2007-2008 and I must say I've learned A LOT about new exotic dishes thanks to your unsatiated hunger for new flavours. I remeber when you switched to Nokia N95 and got better pictures here. That was completely different era of the internet innit? Anyway, I haven't read your post in a decade but I am very happy to know you still do your thing. This is a great food blog, keep on rockin man! Cheers from Poland.
