Union Farm Chee Pow Kai in Jurong East
Those little grey parcels above might look a bit unsightly, but they contained impressively tender and juicy chicken inside that had been handwrapped in paper and deep fried. They weren't as oily as one might think, and were slightly sweet and herbal, yet not dramatically so. They were bone-in, but easy enough to eat with chopsticks given how tender they were.
And I didn't realize it until after I had arrived (267A Toh Guan Road), but it seems that one usually isn't able to walk in and get food served since their stock is usually all ordered in advance. Fortunately, this guy was nice enough to let me have some that was already fried for his other customers, as I guess he had enough reserves to fry another batch when they arrive later.
