Meat Zero’s Plant-Based Meat and Basil with Rice
I wasn't too impressed with Meat Zero last time, but I saw this pad krapow version at the market and was curious enough to grab it. I ate it pretty quickly, especially with all of that savory basil, chili, and garlic in there. But the artificial texture of Meat Zero was much more obvious in this dish, being exactly that rubbery old school mock meat that I feared but didn't notice last time. I'll confess that I'll still keep a pack in the freezer on standby though, as it's conveniently ready to eat after nuking it for just three minutes. And as long as I think of it as aburaage rather than a bad attempt at imitating chicken, then it doesn't bother me as much.
