This is a fish soup stall that is presumably from the old HDB estates on Zion Road before having to move here (206 Toa Payoh North). It was pretty good, with fresh fish and a
crisp, clean broth. Plus, they get bonus points for intentionally separating out the fried fish pieces from the broth, even if the batter was still on the thick side. I sure miss
Hock Heng though.

they have a so call collagen soup which is the fish belly with fish maw. you can try it. or just ask for fish belly, yu lam.
Thanks for the tip. I ordered it but I’m not sure if my request was interpreted correctly, as there was no maw in my bowl. The fish pieces were pleasantly lined with some fat, and the (no milk) broth was slightly cloudier than the one I had last time. But was that the collagen bowl?
