North Miznon on Amoy Street in Singapore

Grilled octopus resting on a potato

The Miznon folks have opened a more upscale restaurant just a few minutes away from their original outlet (110 Amoy Street #01-01, 6223-0716). Instead of pita sandwiches, they serve plated dishes here. But the food is just as playful.

That item above, for instance, was listed on the menu as "Grilled OCTOPUS resting on a potato with everything that burns your mouth." And it was delicious with its smoky yet tender slices of octopus complete with citrusy salty tastes and even the occasional kick of parsley.

Apparently the menu changes frequently depending on what they can get from the local market, and incidentally they had baby cauliflower available today too. I passed on it though because I wanted to try their slow roasted Indian cabbage head, which was so tender that it could almost be cut with a fork. I love Miznon.
