The Mehikari Tou-age from Morinaga Izakaya
An izakaya is probably one of the last places that one would expect to do takeaway from. And yet, Morinaga was open, and more importantly, serving its a la carte menu rather than just those big bento sets that are displayed in front. I was delighted, and grabbed a few bar snacks to go with my booze, like those fried mehikari white fish above. Sure, they wilted a bit by the time that I got home, but tossing them into the air fryer for a few minutes at a low temperature breathed some new life into them without completely ruining them. That, and some of their salty cold herring went nicely with some nihonshu.
