New York-style pizza wasn't exactly at the top of my list for places to eat San Diego. But I just happened to be in the neighborhood when I realized that this place is very highly rated, and a single slice would be a fast and cheap snack before proceeding onto more food (111 Washington Street, 619-291-3341). Yes, it was better than I expected, as its crust was impressively airy with a nice crisp to it. Granted, it was also a little dry (personally I prefer a chewier Neapolitan style), but I can see why this place is popular.
