I can't remember how I found out about these guys (560 Divisadero Street, 415-864-8643), but it was totally the kind of place that I would go to, with its open kitchen, craft cocktails, and
small plates like those little fried fish above. To be sure, the food wasn't mindblowing, and a side of broccoli that I got was downright tough. But it was still better than average, and I was happy to have come to this friendly and unpretentious place.
