Ah Tee Ko Ko Mee at Amoy Street
Back to Amoy Street Food Centre. This Teochew fishball noodle stall, originally from Beach Road, looked and sounded interesting, especially with a picture of a bamboo stalk (7 Maxwell Road #02-131). It turned out that it wasn't like "bamboo noodles" in Hong Kong, where a guy bounces up and down on bamboo to knead the dough. Instead, bamboo here was used as a noisemaker to attract customers, and hence the onomatopoeia "Ko Ko."
Anyway, the good thing was that the noodles were indeed good, as they kept them firm without overcooking them. In that sense, it was one of the better ones around town, as the garnishes and broth kept it fun too. Still, the chili sauce couldn't compare to Da Lian's Xiao Chun (and they were a bit sloppy here, with some residual water left in my bowl of dry noodles in the end). I'll still eat here again though.
