Superdawg Drive-In, Chicago

Superdawg

While I may prefer New York style pizza over Chicago style, it's the reverse for hot dogs, where Chicago's tramples all over New York's. So I came on down to Superdawg Drive-In tonight (6363 North Milwaukee Avenue at Devon, 773-763-0660), which is a local institution with cool retro parking stalls complete with microphone systems for food to be delivered to your car with a tray attached (like Fred Flintstone). It was below freezing today in Chicago's chilly December weather though, so I scrambled inside instead.

I went ahead and got the eponymous Superdawg, which came with standard issue mustard, relish, onions, sport peppers, a big pickle, fries, and the pleasant surprise of a green pickled tomato (rather than fresh slices). Unfortunately, they packed this down into the bottom of their little red box, which smashed the thing and made it a bit hard to take a pretty photo of, but the crispy fries smothering this thing did keep it piping hot. And yes, it still tasted good. What a great little pick-me-up. Just be sure crank up the heater if you decide to sit inside your car in the wintertime.

If you're still in Chicago and am in the mood a pretty kickass dog. Go try demon dogs.

Hello,

Have you tried "Superdog" at Vivocity? They have "rippers" and it'd be interesting to see how it compares to "Superdawg".
