The flat disc-shaped thing at the top of the plate was a new one for me. At first glance, I thought it was a hashbrown. But it turned out to be the biscuit that I specified when the waiter asked me for my bread choice. I was expecting a tall and fluffy Southern version, whereas this was flat and then further sliced transversely to make it even thinner. It didn't make that much of a difference in terms of taste, but I wonder if it was a function of this restaurant being a regional chain here in New England.
