Chokotto Ryori Nazuna in Shimbashi, Tokyo

Croquettes

This is a little izakaya run by what appeared to be a young husband and wife team (3 Chome−18−5 2F, 03-3436-2387). It only seated maybe 15 diners at the most, and was up on the second floor so it was fortunately removed from the commercialized shops down on the street. Indeed, this shop was cash only and didn't speak English, so we knew that we picked a good spot.

They were nonetheless very engaging despite the language barrier, and brought us plates of things like mentaiko, karaage, gindara, and those croquettes above. And they even took the time to point out how they used organic ingredients as well as the best way to mix up their TKG, not to mention packing us a few complimentary onigiri as we left. The food itself was fine, but it was the intimate service made this place fun.
