Fico in Singapore’s East Coast Park

San Marzano Tomato Focaccina

This Michelin Bib Gourmand is out in a rather isolated area (1300 East Coast Parkway, 8121-7208), and yet they command a monthslong waitlist. Fortunately, I was able to walk in tonight, and that is when I realized why it was so popular: not only is the beachfront venue gorgeous, but the food is good too.

That focaccina above was impressively good with that dough being airy and crispy, all while delivering a delicious load of olive oil and salt with those juicy tomatoes. Their kawaebi-like fried shrimps were fun to nibble on too.

The service was a bit spotty though, which was quite disappointing considering how expensive everything was. Indeed, it was so pricey that I can't afford to go back, even if I really want to try the pasta and those cool picnic baskets. This place was clearly meant to target people with deeper pockets than me.
