Besta Barcelona in Eixample, Barcelona

Clams

This Michelin-listed place was easily the best food that I've eaten so far this week (106 Carrer d'Aribau, 930-19-8294). They do seafood-focused dégustation menus, and everything they brought out was wonderfully perky, done up with some edgy twists.

A number of raw items came out at first, including not just those refreshing clams above, but also a fish-filled eclair and a few other nibbles featuring things like fried seaweed and fresh sweet peas. My favorite of the night was a more traditional fish and artichoke plate that was comfortingly hearty and savory.

Not all of my dining companions appreciated it as much though, especially when it came things like ice cream garnished with fresh horseradish on top. But I was more than happy to eat their portions. It turns out that one of the chefs is the guy behind Arume, with this place bringing Galician and Catalan cuisine together.
