Next door to Sakemaru lies this Issan restaurant (57 South Bridge Road #01-02, 6787-8575). It's an extension of a restaurant from Thailand called PenLaos, and both that shop as well as this one are Michelin Bib Gourmands. And yes, it was delicious, including not just the uniqueness of the dishes like that mushroom and black fish soup above with its earthy spices, but also the quality of things like that very tender chicken, all of which was laced with wonderfully fragrant herbs. There were so many other things on the menu that looked worthy of a try, so I'm definitely going back.
