Da Shi Jia Big Prawn Mee on Killiney Road, Singapore
Somehow I had never heard of this place despite passing down this street rather frequently (89 Killiney Road, 6732-1085). Apparently they are part of a bigger cze cha chain, and have been praised for their namesake prawn noodle. I didn't order that though.
Instead, I was after their paofan, which presumably used the same broth. As a result, it was much more savory and deep than what one usually gets with paofan. The white beehoon above was similarly punchier than what usually thinks of with white beehoon, in a good way. They also did a nice job of bringing the earthy taste of shallots together with the prawns, making them worth the hassle of shelling.
But the textures of both the rice and beehoon were rather mushy. I'm not sure if that was a function of it being in a takeaway box, but it didn't deter me from eating them. It would've been nice if they had provided some of that crispy rice stuff that usually accompanies paofan though.
