A Blanco Court Fried Fish Soup Shootout
If I have my facts correct, Blanco Court was an old shopping center that has long since been demolished, but apparently had lots of well-known food stalls doing things like prawn noodles, beef noodles, and fish soup. These stalls have since scattered, but I found one at the PSA Tanjong Pagar Complex under several names: China Square Fried Fish Soup (Blanco Court) and Old Blanco Court Fish Specialist, among others (7 Keppel Road #01-23). They were surprisingly generous with those cuts of fish.
But then there is also another shop (325 Beach Road) closer to the actual Blanco Court location with names like Blanco Court Fried Fish Noodles and Blanco Court Fried Fish Soup. It's pretty clear that it's not the same shop: the menu is different, the food is more expensive, and you get less fish and fried egg at that. But the soup is much more savory (I made sure to opt out of milk at both shops to get it unadulterated). Plus, I liked the vinegar dip here. This one is my preferred choice.
