
These exotic-looking spiky fruits were at the market recently, naturally piquing our curiosity. This one was from New Zealand, but they are native to Sub-Saharan Africa. And as you can see in the photo, it's a bit of a melon and cucumber. One can scoop it out with a spoon; it was slightly sour, and like a cucumber, the seeds were slightly bitter but edible nonetheless. It was certainly refreshing, but not really anything so exciting that I'll rush to get another one.
