Egg Fried Rice from Wok Hey in Singapore
Wok Hey is a small chain of kiosks that has expanded rapidly across the island over the past few years, and only recently did I finally stop to try it. It's an interesting setup: the name is a play on wok hei, or that wonderfully smoky aroma that one can get from a properly seasoned wok.
Accordingly, these guys focus on rice and noodles stir-fried in a pair of woks that you can watch behind a glass panel as they make your food to order. You can also customize your choice of protein and toppings, but I went for the cheapest egg fried rice above.
I ate it all, but it wasn't quite as smoky as one would hope. Unfortunately, none of the protein options included salted fish either. It's nonetheless a convenient choice when you're in the mood for a quick bowl of carbs and grease.
