Returning to Lolla More Than Five Years Later

Scrambled eggs with Bottarga di Muggine

Remember Lolla? This used to be one of my favorite places, but admittedly I haven't been here in over five years. Thankfully, they are still around, along with their signature sea urchin pudding.

I was happy with those scrambled eggs with bottarga above, as well as a carabinero risotto that featured little dried xiami for both taste and texture. Their kombu butter was delicious too, even if it took the place of the Échiré that they used to serve with their bread.

It's rather expensive though, and they still have a tendency to serve everything at once, which perhaps is why they don't get as much praise as they could. But it is one of the most underrated places in town in my opinion.
