My First Taste of Mexican Tostilocos
I had heard about this thing back when I was in Mexico City earlier this month, but I didn't get the chance to try it. Today, I noticed it at a stateside Mexican fruit stand, and figured that this was my chance. The thing was huuuuge. Never mind that bag of Tostitos that they started with: it was topped with so many cuts of cucumber, jicama, and cueritos that it weighed a ton. To be honest, I didn't bother finishing it, in part because it was so over the top, but also since I'm admittedly not accustomed to the gelatinous texture of the pickled pork skin. Those big flour coated peanuts were a bit of a turn off too. Well, I'm glad that I tried it, but I should've gotten the corn or fruit instead.
