Pastelería Barrenetxe in San Sebastián, Basque Country

I'm not much of a pastry person, but I needed breakfast and this place was not only nearby, but also one that has been around since 1699 (9 Gipuzkoa Plaza, 943-424482). And that almond cake above was supposed to be one of their better known items. It tasted like it looked, with a candied almond layer on top. I washed it down with some of their hot chocolate, which was thinner and sweeter than I was expecting but nonetheless fine at getting something into my belly so early in the morning.
