Toa Payoh Lorong 7 Teochew Fishball Noodles, Singapore
I'm not sure how long these Li Xin guys have been down here at Shaw Centre's Food Republic. But this morning, I noticed all the accolades that they had plastered in front of their stall. Oddly, Makansutra gave the fishballs a full three chopstick rating, but the rest of the food only got two. It became obvious why after trying it though. The fishballs were very tender and yet slightly gritty at the same time, giving it a neat texture.
The bowl of noodles, on the other hand, was rather sweet due to an excessive amount of ketchup in there. I still ate it all though, especially after realizing that they were also excessive on the pork crackling, which actually went well with that sweetness. I wouldn't go so far as to say it deserved those three and two chopstick ratings, but it is definitely one of the more unique ones out there.

They're at a few places eg breadtalk ihq and suntec food republic. Ask for no ketchup and you can add vinegar to the noodles too.
i been checking out the food stores in toa payoh before my office shifts, check out the original store at toa payoh lorong 7 https://www.misstamchiak.com/song-kee-fishball-noodles-toa-payoh/ but in terms of overall mix of good eats, i highly recommend toa payoh lorong 8 market/hawker centre, it seems like one of those places the food stores have been curated, lots of good eats fyi akin to old airport hawker centre
They are popular esp with the older folks there but mostly go for the soup version.
