Exploring Jalan Penang and Lebuh Kimberley in Penang, Malaysia

Makin' pancake taco-like things

We pressed on on foot this morning, walking down Lebuh Kimberley which was adorned with food carts and restaurants up and down the street. This guy was making some kind of pancake dessert-like thing that folded in half like a taco.

Tuai Pui Curry Mee

Actually, the first thing that we ate was this curry mee from a stall called Tuai Pui (23 Lebuh Kimberley, +60-16-400-7748). Compared to the one from the chain restaurant this morning, this one actually tasted like it was made from scratch, or at least, without a load of MSG in it.

Chendol

Ultimately, our destination was this famous chendol cart off Jalan Penang. There were actually a couple of stalls there, including a cart on the north side of the street with a sign saying "both very tasty." But the real McCoy seemed to be the one on the south side called Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul. Yes, it was refreshing, but I now have a newfound appreciation for The Coconut Club back in Singapore, as I seem to recall liking that one's heavy gula melaka taste better.
