New York's Burger Joint in Singapore
Did you ever watch that Bourdain episode when he walked into a dark crowded corner of a hotel in Manhattan and had a burger? That place was called Burger Joint (no relation to my favorite Burger Joint in San Francisco) at Le Parker Meridien. The place has opened up an outlet in Singapore now (115 Amoy Street #01-03, 6221-8648).
I've never been to the one in New York, but based upon the pictures, it seems like they attempted to give the Singapore location the same fun look and feel. It's too bad then the burger was a letdown, mainly because the patty was tasteless. I still ate it all, but it definitely couldn't compare to a place like Shake Shack. It wasn't cheap either.
Well, the good thing is that the bar actually looks like it'd be pretty fun at night, especially with its huge arsenal of taps (it was largely stocked with IPAs today, so you had better like hops). Just be sure to remember that you can't see the place from Amoy Street; you have to go to the alley behind the building to find a neon burger sign.
