Our local team took us to this
izakaya in
Taipei tonight (4, Lane 160, Section 1, Dunhua South Road, 02-2731-9558), but I didn't like their interpretations of the dishes. This was epitomized in some kind of potato
mentaiko thing that they put sliced bananas (!!) into, among other things. Having said that, there was one thing that was mindblowingly good: a local butterfish that I believe was called
ibodai, whose flesh was almost cod-like in taste. In that sense, there was no problem with the quality of the ingredients here, but I just didn't like the cooking style. That
ibodai was fortunately just grilled simply without any
weird fruit getting in the way.
