I've never been a huge fan of champon. And yet, somehow I was always kinda curious about this chain from Nagasaki, in part just because of the non-Japanese sounding name. There is an outlet in San Jose that was conveniently en route to our next meeting, so we stopped by (1072 Saratoga Avenue, 408-554-0877).
I was surprised by how much I liked it, mainly because it was loaded up with tons of white pepper (i.e., the same reason why I like Singaporean bak kut teh so much). Granted, that broth was pretty MSG-heavy, but I'd come back for the broth if I'm nearby as long as I don't mind smelling like grease afterwards.
