Ikan Bakar (Asli) Pak Din, Kuala Lumpur
When a teammate mentioned that he knew of a really good ikan bakar place that we could go to for lunch, I was interested. I hadn't eaten that much ikan bakar before, and what's not to like about fish grilled on a fire? This place does a lot of fish, with several varieties grilling away outside, along with squid and stingray too (Gerai No 5, Komplex Makan Tanglin, Jalan Cenderasari, 016-3697894).
All of it came with a delicious dark brown sambal sauce that was neither too sweet nor stanky. Normally, I might pass on the sambal to get the true taste of the fish, but in this case the sambal really did go well enough that it tasted better with it. If only there weren't so many tiny bones in some of the other varieties; that would have allowed for even faster eating.
