With the demise of
Banoo, I've unfortunately had to go more upscale to neighboring
Shiraz for my Persian food fixes. So here is an updated photo of Shiraz's
koobideh. It was lip-smackingly delicious, but I really wish that they would provide a
larger serving of rice. This teeny little serving in the corner of the plate left me unsatisfied.

dude, have you been to Turkey? If you haven't, you shld go. It's kofta heaven, and it's usually served w/ a huge mountain of awesome bread and rice pilaf. I am so hungry now thinking abt Turkish food. everything was delightful, except Turkish delight.
Out of curiosity, in an average month, how many days do you spend travelling? Cheers!
The last time (and the first time) that I went to Shiraz it was horrific. Being near my office; I went for lunch alone one day. I ordered some kind of dip platter that had three yoghurt based dips and was supposed to come with their own pide or whatever kind of bread they have. Well the dips were dropped off at my table with nothing else while the server disappeared. I waited a good five minutes before my hand waving was acknowledged and then was told that there was "no bread today"....? I asked why I wasn't told that when I ordered and how was I expected to eat the dips and the guy came back with a spoon! I told him I didn't want it and just to bring out my main course...which was a lump of meat that was meant to come in the same bread...alas no bread, just onions and meat. When the bill arrived the manager wouldn't take the appetizer off the bill, he just said that he was sorry I didn't like it...pathetic restaurant
Hi,
You may want to check out Al Qasr at Holland Village. They serve Lebanese, Middle Eastern and even Morrocan cuisine and the restaurant is helmed by a Lebanese chef and owner, guaranteed authentic!
I agree with you on Shiraz's rice. It's simply the nest I've tasted anywhere!
