Heritage, The North Indian Cuisine

Hyderabadi Kachhe Gosht Ki Biryani

Mmm...this was a pleasant surprise. I was craving Indian food tonight, and had heard about this place (805 Bukit Timah Road #01-03, 6875-0433), but didn't really think that there could be any Indian food that was too spectacular out in this area. Everything we had tonight was satisfyingly impressive and much better than I thought it would be though, most notably the Hyderabadi kachhe gosht ki biryani, whose rice was fluffy and aromatic, whose lamb was tender enough to crumble at the slightest touch, and whose spices packed just the right amount of heat without being too complicated. I liked this one much better than the one at Gayatri, which was, of all places, from Little India.

Pani PuriSurprisingly, they also had a chaat selection here, so we grabbed some papri chaat and pani puri, the latter of which was very well refined with its paper thin shells and jal jeera that turned out to be green rather than brown (and yet still on the spicy side). It was so refreshingly clean in taste that it seemed more like an Indian version of gazpacho (self-contained in their own little pastry bowls though of course...and yes, the jal jeera was ice cold) than the chips and salsa that I once considered them to be like. Repeat visits are definitely in order here.

Next to Heritage, there is another North Indian Restaurant - Omar Shariff Authentic Indian Cuisine (http://www.omar-shariff.com/). I've been there several times and have never been disappointed by the food or service. Btw, I wasn’t into Indian food till I visited Omar Shariff. Cheers.
