No sooner than I had complained about the predictability of United's meals did the flight attendant happily tell us that there was a new item available for lunch today: an asparagus and asiago cheese pie of sorts. It was so new that he hadn't tried it himself and didn't know what it was like.
It turned out to be really good. The cheese was pungent enough to be exciting without being heavy, and still allowing the surprisingly strong taste of the asparagus to come through. Sure, the crust was a bit soggy, but we're on an airplane, after all. I was pretty happy with this, and definitely glad that I didn't have to put up with another omelette.
